"ComReg invests in new high speed infrastructure by Complete"
The Commission for Communications Regulation, ComReg, has invested in new high speed infrastructure by Complete Telecom.
The new infrastructure includes two communication links that will facilitate crucial elements of ComReg’s Business Continuity Plan., including high speed connection to facilitate daily replication/backup of data to offsite hot-site, as well as connection from ComReg EOS to offsite hot-site to provide alternative IT services for staff in the event of an emergency.
Two lines have been supplied by Complete for the project: one between ComReg and Web Hosting Company and IP Connection, and a second line between the web hosting company and ComReg Emergency Operations site.
“The infrastructure provided by Complete for this project plays a key role in enabling ComReg’s Business Continuity Plan,” says Barbara Delaney, Information Services Manager for ComReg. “High Speed and high availability are key to the success of this.”
ComReg is the statutory body responsible for the regulation of the electronic communications sector (telecommunications, radiocommunications and broadcasting transmission) and the postal sector. ComReg is the national regulatory authority for these sectors in accordance with EU law, which is subsequently transposed into Irish legislation.
“Our remit covers all kinds of transmission networks including traditional telephone wire, traditional television and radio, radio communications including fixed wireless, MMDS and deflector operators providing TV services, mobile operators providing voice and data services, licensing Framework for Satellite Services in Ireland and postal delivery network,” she adds.
ComReg chose Complete Telecom to implement this project due to its competitive pricing and existing access to ComReg office.
