- Complete Telecom secures three year deal to provide internet connectivity and managed services
- www.taxireland.ie has experienced a 64% increase in website traffic
- www.taxireland.ie resource for 1,500 Irish tax students, 5,000 affiliated members and over 2 million Irish tax payers.
Dublin, 22 April 2010 – Complete Telecom, the managed network and telecoms services provider, today announced a deal over three years to provide an internet connectivity and managed services solution to the Irish Taxation Institute (ITI). Since the Complete Telecom solution was implemented in December 2009, the Irish Taxation Institute’s website has experienced a 64% increase in website traffic and a 53% increase in the average time spent on the website.
The Irish Taxation Institute is the leading organisation on tax education and practice in Ireland. It represents over 6,000 tax professionals and consultants who provide tax expertise and advice to thousands of businesses and individuals. The Institute is the leader in tax education in Ireland for over 40 years while it also offers ongoing seminars and conferences as part of its professional services programme.
The Institute is also a respected authority on tax policy in Ireland. A leading publisher of legal books and academic journals, the ITI is a respected voice on the role and impact of tax policies on the Irish economy.
Its website – www.taxireland.ie - is the central information resource for 1,500 Irish tax students, 4,200 affiliated members and over two million Irish tax payers. Following the recent launch of its redesigned online information resource TaxFind, the ITI identified the need for improved bandwidth speeds and capacity to offer a high quality user experience. It also needed the ability to introduce bandwidth intensive digital media applications.
Students use the www.taxireland.ie website to access lecture notes and exam results. Members pay subscriptions, register for seminars and update account information online, and the general public access information on personal tax procedures and rebates. The website is increasingly becoming an interactive resource between the ITI and users, with 30,000 documents stored online and plans to integrate collaborative technologies onto the site. Already the Institute is streaming live webinars and plans to deliver online tutorials to students in the near future.
Complete Telecom is providing the ITI with a host of telecommunication and managed services. This includes uncontended 10Mbps upload and download broadband speeds which enables users to navigate the site without delays, download documents at faster speeds and participate in interactive online forums without experiencing timeouts.
It will also have built-in capacity to manage high spikes in traffic at busy times of the year including budget day, tax deadlines and student examination results. The initial 10Mbps connectivity can quickly scale to 1Gbps through Complete Telecom’s fibre connected service, to meet these traffic demands. The Complete Telecom solution also includes an enterprise level SLA and service availability, and proactive monitoring and network support, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity and access to the website 24x7.
Heather Madden, manager IT systems, Irish Taxation Institute, said, “The way we plan to deliver courses and service to our members will increasingly put our website to the fore. We were restricted by our previous telecommunications infrastructure which limited the range of applications and the robustness of the site. Complete Telecom has dramatically improved our bandwidth capacity allowing us to fully utilise the growing number of interactive web applications and self-service functionality, and at a very competitive price.”
Neil Wisdom, sales and marketing director, Complete Telecom, said,” Taxireland.ie is a great example of a website that was unable to reach its full potential because of restrictive bandwidth. Traditionally, the cost of high quality bandwidth in Ireland has been exorbitant and a pipedream for many organisations with limited budgets. The Irish Taxation Institute took charge of its situation and went to market looking for alternatives, and is delighted with Complete Telecom’s high bandwidth, low-cost solution.”
