Complete Telecom Provides 1 GIGABIT Internet Connectivity to the National Gallery of Ireland
- The 1Gps internet connection enables greater online collaboration between the National Gallery of Ireland and its counterparts throughout the world.
- The NGI is one of the biggest cultural tourist attractions in Ireland with over 780,000 visitors each year.
Dublin, March 2010 – Complete Telecom, the managed network and telecoms services provider, today announced that it has delivered a 1 Gigabit (GB) internet connection to the National Gallery of Ireland (NGI). The 1Gps internet connection enables greater online collaboration between the National Gallery of Ireland and its counterparts throughout the world.
The NGI houses the state collection of Irish and European fine art which currently includes more than 15,000 pieces. It is charged with promoting and preserving a priceless element of the country’s vast artistic heritage and is one of the biggest cultural tourist attractions in Ireland with over 780,000 visitors last year.
The NGI made the decision to replace its existing and restrictive internet connection with a Complete Telecom 1GB solution following a competitive tender process.
As a result of the new solution, the National Gallery of Ireland can now reap the operational and cost benefits of connectivity to the Government VPN enabling greater productivity and communication for its employees, as well as providing an ultra-fast internet connection which will enable greater online collaboration with galleries throughout the world.
The new solution will also greatly assist in the planning and execution of major exhibitions at the NGI including sharing high resolution images with sister institutions, which requires enormous bandwidth and internet connectivity. Previously, the NGI lacked the bandwidth to deliver multimedia traffic on top of its existing data services incurring congestion and outages, slowing down the collaborative process.
Niamh Gogan, IT and procurement manager, National Gallery of Ireland, said, “The positive impact of the Complete Telecom solution can’t be overstated. The 1Gbps internet connectivity speeds have transformed our communications internally, across government departments and with our counterparts around the globe. We had never been in a position to avail of such speeds but recent competition in the Irish telecommunications market has meant there are great deals to be found. Complete Telecom’s fibre network services proved to me the best in the market.”
Neil Wisdom, sales and marketing director, Complete Telecom, The National Gallery of Ireland is developing into an international hub for the most sought after exhibitions in the world. Our superfast internet connectivity enables the gallery to support the execution of these exhibitions with the appropriate technologies, as it continues to compete at the highest levels on the global stage.”
