"Complete Telecom
Provides Gigabyte Speed to Cork’s Business Community
Partnership with e-net yields superior connectivity at lower
costs"
Dublin, Ireland, Friday, 12 August 2005…. Complete
Telecom today announced its capacity to deliver
gigabyte (Gb) speed, reliable and cost effective networks
to its business customers within Cork City.
Central to this new service is a partnership agreement
between Complete Telecom and e-net, the company charged
with the concession to manage, maintain and operate fibre
Metropolitan Area Networks throughout Ireland on behalf
of the Irish government.
According to Kevin Murphy, managing director of Complete
Telecom, “Through this agreement we can significantly
improve the connectivity and speed of our client networks
nationwide. Offering them connectivity speeds to rival any
business in Dublin at a lower cost than they are currently
paying”.
Users will benefit from the availability of gigabyte ethernet
capacity bandwidth, significantly lower prices, better quality
and increased functionality via advanced services in application
hosting, IP Telephony and high-speed inter-site connections.
Additionally Complete Telecom has developed a MAN interconnect
with backhaul speeds from 10 Megabytes (Mb) to 100 MB and
even Gb to improve interconnectivity between multiple business
site locations.
The leasing arrangement between Complete Telecom and e-net
also extends from Cork to other regions such as Kilkenny,
Waterford, Limerick, Wexford, Carlow, Athlone, Sligo and
Galway.
Speaking on this partnership, Michael Tiernan, ceo of e-net
commented, “e-net is committed to network development
in all Ireland’s counties and encourages the open
delivery of affordable, state of the art broadband services
such as those delivered by Complete Telecom ’.
Tiernan continued:, “Turn-key, professional and experienced
network services from companies like Complete Telecom are
exactly what regional companies need to increase their competitiveness,
eradicating any geographical communications boundaries that
might exist”.
The Regional Broadband MAN programme that is managed by
e-net was initiated by the Government in 2004 to roll out
carrier neutral broadband networks to all towns in Ireland
with populations in excess of 1,500 people. Funded up to
90% by the Government, the objective of these networks is
to provide affordable broadband internet access in towns
that would otherwise not receive broadband within a reasonable
timeframe.
According to Murphy, “Complete Telecom initiated
a partnership agreement like this back in 2004 with Aurora
in Dublin and found it worked extremely well. We’ve
extended this business model to partner with e-net in Cork
and other regions throughout Ireland and we have no doubt
it will be just as successful”.
